Trends in Scientific Publications on Aquatic Waste Management: A Bibliometric Approach
Keywords:
Aquatic Waste Management, Bibliometry, Sustainable Innovation, International Collaboration, Research DynamicsAbstract
This research adopts a bibliometric approach to analyze the dynamics and developments in the scientific literature on aquatic waste management from 1964 to 2024. By utilizing the Scopus database, this study manages to collect and analyze 4,600 documents, highlighting the thematic and geographic of research in this field. The results of the analysis show a significant increase in publication volume over time, with China and the USA being the largest contributors. Five leading journals, including "Science of the Total Environment" and "Chemosphere", are dominant in the dissemination of research results, emphasizing the importance of credible platforms in the dissemination of scientific knowledge. Research topics have evolved from a focus on pollution prevention and control in the late 20th century, especially regarding the use of innovative technologies and sustainable solutions in the 21st century. These trends reflect a response to changing environmental needs and challenges, with new technologies and multidisciplinary approaches emerging as potential solutions. International collaboration and research networks play a key role in advancing the understanding and management of aquatic waste, with developed and developing countries alike making significant contributions. This study emphasizes the importance of continuous innovation and global cooperation in overcoming aquatic waste management problems. Suggestions for future research include an increased focus on adaptable and sustainable solutions that consider social, economic, and environmental aspects.
